UK Product Specialist - Veterinary Diagnostics
Our client is a leading supplier of diagnostics product lines to the animal health industry. They have a new opportunity for a UK Product Specialist to join the team. This position is responsible for sales and technical support of diagnostic product lines in the United Kingdom. The primary goal is to increase recurring diagnostic revenue for these product lines within the territory. Through consultative selling and exceptional technical service, the role aims to enhance brand reputation, promote customer loyalty, and drive customer retention. To be considered, you must have a strong technical background coupled with existing lab sales, or similar, experience.
GENERAL PURPOSE
This position is responsible for sales and technical support of diagnostic product lines in the United Kingdom. The primary goal is to increase recurring diagnostic revenue for these product lines within the territory. Through consultative selling and exceptional technical service, the role aims to enhance brand reputation, promote customer loyalty, and drive customer retention.
By understanding customer needs and translating them into diagnostic solutions, the position supports sales growth by creating mutually beneficial value propositions. This growth will include both new customer acquisition and expanded use of product lines. Additionally, the role involves analyzing and reporting market trends, new business opportunities, and potential partnerships within the United Kingdom.
Collaboration with colleagues in Sales, Marketing, and R&D is essential for strengthening the company’s image as a leading supplier of diagnostic kits in the production animal industry within the United Kingdom.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions
- Identify, qualify, and develop business opportunities for diagnostic kit portfolios.
- Drive direct business initiatives to grow the success of the product lines.
- Monitor new opportunities and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Develop accurate regional account plans and forecasts, managing the opportunity pipeline.
- Manage, support, and maintain the existing customer base.
- Provide technical support for laboratories and end users.
- Organize regional user group seminars and scientific meetings.
- Conduct on-site customer training or training at organized events.
- Demonstrate kit and software utilization through live demos at customer sites or other locations.
- Address and resolve technical issues at customer sites.
- Create, manage, and improve technical documentation related to the company’s products or customer utilization of the products.
- Analyse industry trends and customer needs to identify new business opportunities and areas for innovation within the production animal sector.
- Develop and implement robust commercial go-to-market strategies to improve market penetration and ensure sustainable growth potential for the UK.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role does not have any supervisory responsibilities. You will be the sole Product Specialist in the UK but will have the support of speciality departments within the company.
QUALIFICATIONS
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences, medical laboratory technology, or a related field.
- Previous experience in account management within a laboratory, veterinary, or production animal environment.
- Proven track record of success in the technical business of ELISA and/or qPCR.
- Strong understanding of the importance of diagnostics, including how data is applied and utilized as a tool in the production animal market.
- Ability to drive business and service processes from planning to closure.
- Experience with laboratory testing and diagnostic kits is a strong plus.
Skills/Abilities
- Technical knowledge of diagnostics (PCR and ELISA).
- Self-motivated with a tenacious attitude and a drive for closure.
- Exceptional technical and customer service skills, with proactive communication in solving problems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at various locations in both service and sales.
- Proficiency with Windows-based operating systems and common software applications.
WORKING CONDITIONS
You will manage your own diary and be able to organise your travel as you see fit.
LOCATION
You can be based anywhere in the UK, but with the understanding you will need to travel to rural clients.
£50k- £65k + Bonus + Car Allowance
