Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager with heavy industry or construction experience. The successful candidate will ensure that my client's comprehensive health, safety, and environmental practices are identified, documented, and fully aligned with business activities. You will be instrumental in fostering a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organisation.
Key Accountabilities
- Implementing the SHEQ strategy to achieve organizational goals and injury reduction targets.
- Providing technical advice, support, and guidance to managers and employees on all matters related to health, safety, environmental, and quality issues, programs, and systems.
- Supporting the implementation of audit processes, including designing and planning the processes, training participants, and recommending and implementing continuous improvements. Conducting audits as required.
- Managing and being accountable for specific health and safety projects to ensure compliance with legislation, internal requirements, and injury reduction initiatives.
- Investigating, proposing, and implementing improvements in safety and environmental management systems.
- Assisting management in investigating accidents, identifying root causes, and developing corrective action plans.
- Collaborating with customers and external organizations to support the company in fulfilling its responsibilities to employees, clients, and the community.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the organization’s SHEQ management system with effective and innovative health and safety policies and procedures.
- Participating in the annual operational planning process, documenting and communicating plans, supporting updates as required, and conducting metric-based progress reviews.
- Developing and delivering SHEQ training as needed.
- Coordinating and conducting business inspection audits.
- Ensuring accurate and timely monthly reporting on accidents, corrective actions, environmental metrics, audits, and any additional required items.
- Completing specific goals, objectives, and tasks related to this position.
- Fully complying with all quality, environmental, health, and safety directives, including but not limited to PPE requirements, accident reporting, cardinal rules, and RAMS.
Professional Qualifications
- Professional EH&S qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent).
- Environmental qualification (e.g., IEMA Certificate or equivalent).
- Auditor experience with ISO 9001:2015 (required); ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 (desirable).
- Experience in construction project management.
- Proven experience in implementing EH&S programs.
- Up-to-date understanding of EHSQ practices and legislation.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Strong reporting and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
