Materials Scientist
Cranleigh STEM has partnered exclusively with an exciting start-up business developing sustainable carbon neutral fuels/materials, based in Oxford. The team is currently recruiting for a Materials Scientist to join its R&D team and focus efforts on developing formulations for shaped catalysts.
Materials Scientist responsibilities
- To undertake development activities regarding the formulation and type of shaped catalyst for carbon dioxide Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.
- To work with the Research & Development team and identify opportunities to the development of next generation shaped catalyst for carbon dioxide Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.
- To work on ex-situ characterisation of shaped catalyst and correlate performance metrics with catalyst textural and chemical properties.
- To operate laboratory chemical reactors, collate and analyse data and compare with historical data.
- To contribute to the development of internal know-how regarding catalyst shaping and scale-up
- To plan and carry out work according to business priorities
Materials Scientist requirements
- Master’s degree level qualification or PhD in Material Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar.
- Proven industrial experience operating in a complex formulation/product development laboratory.
- Proven ability to design and undertake experimental work and use analytical skills to analyse and post-process the results.
- Knowledge on catalytic reaction engineering, transport phenomena in porous media and solids mixing.
- Proven track record in managing and conducting heterogeneous catalyst or materials characterisation.
- High level of technical problem-solving skills.
- Be a strong team player and effective communicator within a multifunctional team including verbal and written communication
