Cranleigh STEM has partnered with a well-renowned engineering company that designs and manufactures superconducting electromagnets for scientific applications. The team is now recruiting for a Computational Scientist to join its team in West Sussex on a permanent basis.
Computational Scientist responsibilities
The successful candidate will bring a strong background in Physics or Engineering and will engage in a variety of tasks, including:
- Design superconducting and resistive electromagnets and coil systems using advanced tools including ANSYS finite element packages. These designs will simultaneously address electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical aspects.
- Develop and maintain bespoke software for the design and testing of magnet systems.
- Creating special-purpose tools using commercial software packages.
- Provide expert advice and perform troubleshooting analysis to support production.
Computational Scientist requirements
- Proven ability to communicate complex results effectively through written reports and spoken presentations.
- Degree qualification, in a relevant discipline.
- A determined problem-solver, meticulous about details, with a natural talent for identifying and correcting errors.
- Ability to devise innovative solutions within challenging operational constraints.
- Practical experience in magnets, cryogenics, mechanics, electronics, production methods, and collaborative work environments is highly advantageous.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £35,000 - £50,000
