Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum

Role Overview
A highly capable and experienced Logistics Manager is sought to lead logistics operations at a busy site in Tilbury. This position requires a hands-on and strategic leader who can drive efficiency, ensure operational excellence, and manage a dynamic team. The role reports directly to the Head of Operations and involves close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to optimise logistics performance and achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all logistics functions to ensure smooth and efficient operations across the site.
- Provide expert leadership and guidance to logistics staff, including the development and coaching of direct reports.
- Ensure adequate staffing and resource cover at all times to maintain service levels.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Operations to ensure timely execution of all logistics duties.
- Monitor haulage profitability and implement measures to improve margins.
- Maintain high levels of order accuracy and ensure internal shunt utilisation is maximised.
- Oversee daily site activities, ensuring seamless workflow and operational consistency.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and support wider business goals.
- Analyse financial data, manage budgets, and identify opportunities to enhance profitability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and industry-specific requirements.
- Continuously improve systems, processes, and best practices to maximise productivity.
- Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and deliver ongoing training and support.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Lead procurement activities and coordinate the allocation of materials and resources effectively.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding projects and priorities.
- Proactively identify operational challenges and implement solutions to optimise service delivery and revenue.
- Report regularly to senior management, offering insights on operational performance and business efficiency.
Essential Attributes:
- Calm, composed, and able to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to think clearly and strategically in fast-paced situations.
- In-depth understanding of logistics operations, customer expectations, and business processes.
- Strong IT literacy, with TOPS (Transport Operations Processing System) experience being essential.
- Analytical and detail-oriented, using facts and data to support decisions.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

- Self-motivated with a passion for developing people, systems, and operational processes.
