Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Manager to lead the development and implementation of ISO standards and health, safety, environmental and quality (SHEQ) improvements within a busy manufacturing and warehousing environment.
This project-led role blends strategic oversight with hands-on delivery and is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about safe, compliant and efficient workplaces. The successful candidate will lead key projects across ISO 45001 14001, and 9001, develop robust H&S systems and embed a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
ISO Accreditation & Compliance
- Drive the implementation of ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 through a structured project management approach.
- Lead internal audits, gap analysis, documentation control and corrective actions.
- Coordinate cross-departmental participation in ISO processes and external certification.
Health & Safety Leadership
- Maintain and enforce policies in line with UK legislation (e.g. HASAWA 1974 COSHH RIDDOR).
- Conduct risk assessments, oversee accident investigations and ensure compliance with PPE and safe systems of work.
- Support fire safety business continuity planning and physical site compliance.
Facilities & Environmental Oversight
- Oversee facility-related compliance maintenance practices and contractor management.
- Lead energy efficiency initiatives, water hygiene and recycling processes.
- Ensure alignment with ISO 14001 and environmental legislative obligations.
Training & Culture Building
- Deliver H&S training inductions refresher sessions, and toolbox talks.
- Maintain training records and competency matrices.
- Coach and support team members in SHEQ awareness and responsibilities.
Regulatory Engagement
- Act as point of contact for HSE fire authorities and other regulatory bodies.
- Monitor legal updates and ensure internal policies remain compliant.
- Manage DSE assessments and promote ergonomic workplace practices.
Candidate Profile
- Strong experience in workplace health & safety and ISO standards implementation.
- In-depth knowledge of UK SHEQ legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Skilled communicator with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
- Experienced in audit preparation, documentation control and continuous improvement.
- Confident in delivering training and leading cross-functional compliance initiatives.
