Software Engineer
oftware Engineer – Engineering Design & Manufacturing Platforms
We’re partnering with an innovative engineering firm at the forefront of additive manufacturing and material science. They’re building a suite of cutting-edge software platforms that support everything from alloy development to component design and quality assurance. This is an exciting opportunity for a versatile Software Engineer who’s passionate about applying their skills to real-world engineering challenges.
The Role
You’ll be joining a collaborative team of engineers, scientists, and developers working to accelerate innovation in advanced component design, especially in high-performance domains like microturbine engines and 3D-printed parts. Your work will span the full software development lifecycle: from gathering requirements and defining architecture, through to implementation, testing, and deployment.
You’ll help build and integrate tools for data analysis, simulation, component design, and automated workflows, contributing to platforms that bring together physical modelling, machine learning, and cloud-based compute infrastructure.
What You’ll Be Doing
Designing, developing, and maintaining modules within several custom software platforms
Supporting engineering use cases in areas like:
Component and turbine design
Material composition optimisation
Additive manufacturing workflow automation
Statistical quality control and production monitoring
Wrapping internal and third-party tools into scalable software services
Integrating modules into cloud-based infrastructure (AWS or Azure) using modern DevOps practices
Working closely with mechanical, process, and aerothermal engineers to solve complex problems
Participating in agile development cycles including user story generation and user acceptance testing
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
A degree (2:1 or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, or a related technical subject
Strong programming skills in C++, C# or Python
Sound understanding of object-oriented design principles and software best practices
Experience with test-driven development and collaborative agile workflows
A passion for applied science and solving technical challenges in engineering domains
Clear communicator and team player with excellent problem-solving skills
Self-starter with the ability to manage and deliver on long-term projects
Desirable:
Full-stack development (ASP.NET Core, Blazor, React, TypeScript, WPF)
Working with 3D geometry or FEA/CFD simulation tools
Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and tools like Terraform
CI/CD pipelines and containerisation
Machine learning model development or agentic AI workflows
Infrastructure automation and scalable deployment systems
Mechanical design principles and turbomachinery fundamentals
Ideal for someone with 2–5 years of industry experience who enjoys working across disciplines and building software that makes a tangible impact on product design and manufacturing performance.
