Facilities & Engineering Manager – Fuels / Hazardous Materials
Remote (Midlands preferred) | UK-wide travel
Salary: Up to £55,000 + £7,000 Car Allowance
A well-established organisation operating within the fuel storage and distribution sector is seeking an experienced Facilities & Engineering Manager to oversee a network of operational depots and inland fuel storage facilities across the UK.
This role will take ownership of the safe operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of multiple sites handling petrol, diesel and kerosene. You will lead facilities and infrastructure management across the depot network, ensuring assets are maintained effectively, projects are delivered on time and within budget, and all sites operate in line with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation.
This position would suit a facilities, engineering or infrastructure leader with strong experience within fuels, hazardous materials, or other highly regulated industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the maintenance and lifecycle management of facilities, plant and infrastructure across multiple depot locations.
Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental and industry regulations, including COMAH and DSEAR where applicable.
Develop and implement planned preventative maintenance programmes to maximise asset reliability.
Manage infrastructure upgrades, refurbishments and capital investment projects from concept through to completion.
Oversee contractor management, procurement and site access controls.
Maintain accurate asset registers, inspection records and compliance documentation.
Work closely with operations, engineering and SHEQ teams to support safe and efficient depot performance.
Identify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce downtime and enhance operational resilience.
Manage budgets, forecasts and cost control relating to facilities and infrastructure activities.
Candidate Profile
Engineering qualification or relevant technical background within the fuels or hazardous materials sector.
Strong experience working within safety-critical, regulated environments.
Knowledge of fuel storage depots, wet depot operations and associated infrastructure.
Solid understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance.
Experience supporting the distribution of fuels from storage through to delivery operations.
Previous experience operating as part of a senior leadership or management team.
An HSQE-related qualification would be advantageous.
