Oxford
Downstream Processing Chemist
Enjoy solving complex purification challenges, experimenting with separation techniques and developing processes that could work beyond the laboratory?
HydRegen is a growing Oxford-based biotechnology company developing innovative technologies to make chemical manufacturing more sustainable.
As the business expands its R&D capabilities, there's an opportunity for a Downstream Processing Chemist to help develop the purification and product-recovery processes needed to take its technology towards commercial application.
This isn't a routine laboratory testing position. You'll investigate new purification approaches, improve existing methods and tackle practical challenges involved in recovering valuable products from complex reaction mixtures.
What makes this opportunity interesting?
Working alongside colleagues in chemistry, biology and process engineering, you'll help develop efficient, scalable processes.
Your work will include:
Developing and optimising purification and downstream processing methods.
Investigating techniques including filtration, extraction, evaporation and crystallisation.
Improving product recovery, purity, yield and process efficiency.
Designing experiments to evaluate different purification approaches.
Supporting the development of processes suitable for larger-scale manufacturing.
What experience will you need?
We're interested in candidates with a background in Chemistry, Bioprocessing, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
You'll need practical experience with downstream processing, purification or product recovery, alongside exposure to different separation techniques.
Previous industrial experience isn't essential. Relevant experience gained through an MSc, PhD or academic research project is welcomed.
Benefits:
EMI share-option scheme
Private healthcare
Enhanced maternity leave
